Dear UniLogers,

The dates for the UniLog 2010 school+congress are fast approaching.

You may have noticed that the website is already updated with the full program, as well as with the electronic version of the book of abstracts.
Downloadable materials provided by the tutors of some of the courses will also be update in the next few days.

Meanwhile, we want to share with you a few practical questions.

1) Reaching the congress hotel

As you know, the whole event will take place at Hotel Eden in Monte Estoril, a beautiful location by the sea just outside Lisbon.

Once at the Lisbon airport, it is fairly simple to get there by public transport.

The cheapest way is certainly to take the Aerobus (route 91) from the airport to Cais do Sodré.
The bus runs frequently and you can buy the ticket on-board (3,50 euros).
Details can be found here

Alternatively, you can take a taxi from the airport to Cais do Sodré. It should cost around 15 euros.

Once at Cais do Sodré, you must proceed to the train station and catch a train headed to Cascais.
The trains also run frequently, but be sure to buy the ticket before boarding (1,70 euros).
Details can be found here

You should leave the train at the penultimate stop: Monte Estoril (just after Estoril, and before Cascais).
Hotel Eden is just above the train station. We advise you not cross the main road. Just take the tunnel at the exit of the station and go upwards (less than 5 minutes walking to the hotel).

The whole raid should take around 1 hour (more if it is rush hour).

2) Meals

Except for the coffee breaks, UniLog does not include any meals. Of course, if you are staying at Hotel Eden, breakfast is included. The same happens in most hotels in the area.
For lunch and dinner there are several inexpensive options nearby, including a few facing the sea and the beach.
There are plenty other possibilities in Estoril and in Cascais, both walking distance.
For your convenience, please consult the map

3) Social program

Due to the high number of participants we have a very heavy schedule. Nevertheless, there will be two social events.
On Wednesday, April 21 at 19h we will have a Welcome Drink at the hotel bar. All UniLog participants are invited.

Then, on Friday, April 23 at 20h we will have the UniLog dinner at a portuguese restaurant in Lisbon.
It will be a buffet of traditional portuguese food, including options for vegetarians, as well as drinks and dessert (those willing to try their understanding of portuguese can have a look at the menu).
Everyone interested in joining should enroll at the UniLog registration desk, upon arrival.
The price per person is 32 euros.

To get to the restaurant, one should take the train towards Lisbon, change train at Oeiras, and then leave at the penultimate stop: Santos (just after Alcântara, and before Cais do Sodré).
The restaurant Tromba Rija is just in front of the train station, by the river.

Thank you all for contributing to make UniLog 2010 a successful event. We look forward to welcome you.

Best regards,
Carlos
